April 6th, IAMBIC PENTAMETER: "Transference"

Sometimes those yellow lines are the only things.

If you have room in your home for one more,
you will feel quite centered and content this
fuzzy cacti might share space with a deer.

I want to stop whatever it is, a leak:
It taught me that I sit too much, jaywalk.

On top of that, each actor has at least
inches and inches at a time, day and
I have suffered so much from the fighting.

Bring a flashlight and bag to hold your eggs.

The first and last line are exquisite!

Hey, I really like this. I have been thinking lately that it may be time to play with some more consciously metered lines. Often my poems will have a variable meter that surprises me. The lines just bounce right in my head, but I know this "tennis without a net" gives our Shakespeare professors a nervous twitch. And it's always good to practice the technique.

Great job with this!

Thanks, both of you!

David, I think this was the first time, ever, that I consciously paid heed to meter. an interesting experience - I'm learning a lot about techniques that I never even knew about before through these exercises.
